What is Air Pre-filters?

Pre-filters also known as main filters or primary filters, are an essential component commonly found in most air purifiers or air purification equipment, serving as the initial line of defense against larger particles in the air. The preliminary filter is the primary filter of the air conditioning system and is mainly used for filtering dust particles above 5μm. The initial filter is available in panel plate, folding and bag styles. Its key features and benefits include:

The filter media is closely combined with the protection grid and processed into a contour, equal spacing filter pleat layer by special process allowing the air to pass freely and evenly so that the dust can be uniformly adsorbed on the entire media thereby achieving high dust holding capacity.

  • Washable Pre-filters:Practical and easy to maintain. Can be washed, vacuumed, or rinsed, offering long-lasting use without frequent replacements.
  • Carbon Pre-Filters:Standard in the market, coated with carbon. Positioned before HEPA filters, serving as a first-stage filter to capture larger particles.

Primary Filter Structure

  • The outer frame of the filter consists of a sturdy waterproof sheet to fix the folded filter material. The diagonal design of the frame provides a large filter area and allows the internal filter material to adhere tightly to the frame. The perimeter of the filter is bonded with a special professional adhesive glue to the frame to prevent air leakage or damage due to wind resistance pressure.
  • The outer frame of the disposable paper frame filter is generally divided into a general cardboard frame and a high-strength die-cut cardboard, and the filter element is a pleated fiber filter material lined with a single-faced wire mesh. High-strength die-cut cardboard is used for the manufacture of standard-sized filters, characterized by high specification accuracy and low aesthetic cost.   • The filter material is folded into a high-strength die-cut cardboard, increasing the windward side area. Dust particles in the inflow air are effectively blocked by the filter material between the pleats and the pleats. The clean air flows evenly from the other side, so the air flow through the filter is gentle and uniform. Depending on the filter material, the particle size that it blocks varies from 0.5μm to 5μm, and the filtration efficiency is also different.

What is the difference between air Pre-Filters, Medium Filters and HEPA Filters?

It’s crucial to understand that while a pre-filter plays a significant role in capturing larger particles, it doesn’t match the efficiency of Medium Pocket Filter and HEPA filters. Here are key points to consider regarding Class and Purification Efficiency:

  • Pre-Filters: A standard pre-filter typically exhibits an efficiency range between 20% and 70%. This level of efficiency makes it effective in capturing particles sized between 3 and 10 microns. And the Class is from G1 to G4, efficiency arrestance 40%,65%,80%,90%.
  • Medium Filters: A medium filter is a type of AHU filter with an efficiency class range of F6 to F9, filter dust particles 1μm~5μm, Efficiency : 45%, 70%, 85%, 95%, wildly used in air condition systems
  • HEPA Filters: A HEPA filter can remove 99.97% of mold, bacteria, pollen, and dust from the air, can capture particulate dust and various suspended substances, with a particle size below 0.5μm; The Filtration Grade is from H10 to H14, efficiency arrestance 95%,99.5%,99.95%,99.995%,99.9995%
